stay at home

stay at home

1. adjective A phrase used to describe a parent who cares for his or her children instead of having a traditional job outside of the home. Typically used in the phrases "stay at home mom" and "stay at home dad." I never thought I would miss working in an office, but being a stay at home mom is utterly exhausting. Once my niece was born, my brother became a stay at home dad.
2. adjective A phrase used to describe one who prefers to spend time at home, as opposed to going out and/or engaging in social activities. I've never been one to party or travel—I'm just a stay at home girl.
