take a run at (someone)

take a run at (someone)

To assault someone; to approach or run toward someone with the aim of harming them. I was passing by these two dodgy-looking guys in the street when, all of a sudden, one of them took a run at me! The next thing I knew I'd been knocked down in the street and all my belongings were gone.
