Latinized form of the Greek name
Ευθυμιος (Euthymios) which meant "in good spirits", derived from the word
ευθυμος (euthymos), which was composed of the elements
ευ (eu) "good" and
θυμος (thymos) "soul, spirit". This was the name of several early saints.
