Denoting a serious or sincere comment or reflection during an otherwise facetious or jocular conversation. I know we all like to poke fun at Dad's forgetfulness, but all kidding aside, I think his memory is really starting to deteriorate. All kidding aside, I really need to focus on finishing this report before tomorrow.
