In paleontology, an area containing a high concentration of fossilized belemnites (properly, belemnitida), an extinct order of cephalopods that existed in the Mesozoic era. I was lucky in my first year as a professional paleontologist to stumble upon a huge, undiscovered belemnite battlefield.
