1. To be out of order; to not be functioning properly or at all. My dad's favorite hobby was heading out to the shed with his tools to work on some old piece of machinery that's out of fix.
2. To be in disarray or disorder; to be in a state of disarrangement. The poor woman's house has been out of fix ever since her husband passed away.
