bring someone up for something

 
1. to suggest someone's name for something. I would like to bring Beth up for vice president. I will bring up Beth for this office if you don't.
2. to put someone's name up for promotion, review, discipline, etc. We brought Tom up for promotion. The boss brought up Tom, too.
