1. To kick something so that it falls on its side: Don't put your glass on the carpet—someone might accidentally kick it over. The playful children kicked over the statue, and it shattered into pieces.
2. To begin to fire or turn. Used of engines: We gave it one last crank, and the old engine kicked over.
