one flesh

Joined together with another person in marriage. Taken from the biblical verse regarding marriage, "And the two shall become one flesh." It can also refer to sexual intercourse in general, which according to Judeo-Christian beliefs should occur only within marriage. I am blessed to have been one flesh with my wife for nearly 30 years. Many people choose to wait until they are married to become one flesh with someone.
