Homely; rather plain or unattractive; not aesthetically pleasing. Janet's date was a little short on looks, but she said he was very nice and a true gentleman. So this is our new back garden. It's short on looks at the moment, but once I get the weeds cleared away and some flowers planted, it will be better in no time.
