1. I am or was extremely fortunate or lucky. (Refers to the idea of good fortune being bestowed upon one by a higher power.) Somebody up there is looking out for me, because I just won $500 on the first lottery ticket I ever bought! I can't believe he walked away from that car accident with just a few scrapes. Somebody up there is looking out for him, all right!
2. Someone in a position of power, authority, or influence is treating me with partiality. Wow, I'm up for a promotion already? I guess somebody up there is looking out for me!
